AMBASSADOR OF PORTUGAL TO INDIA CALLS ON PUNJAB GOVERNOR

CHANDIGARH: 9th May:  ALPHA NEWS INDIA  :—-  Mr. Joao da Camara, Ambassador of Portugal along with his wife  today called on Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjaband Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh at Punjab Raj Bhawan
       During the course of the meeting both called for comprehensive  partnership  to work together to enhance economic, scientific and technological cooperation. Comprehensive strategies were also discussed to promote peace, security and prosperity of the two countries.
       Expressing satisfaction at the excellent mutual understanding between India-Portugal , both affirmed their strong commitment to further strengthen ties and build a forward-looking 21st century partnership based on the strong links of shared history, culture and people-to-people relations.
Taking positive note of the progress being made by India and Portugal in the renewable energy sector, Sh. Badnore welcomed the Memorandum of Understanding signed during the recent meeting between the prime ministers of both countries at Delhi focused mainly on promoting closer cooperation between the two countries in wind, solar and hydro-electricity sectors.
Sh. Badnore also highlighted India’s programme to produce 175 Gigawatt of renewable energy by 2022 offered immense opportunities for mutually beneficial collaboration between India and Portugal.
    Discussing various issues at length, Sh. Badnore said India enjoys mature bilateral relations and strong socio-cultural linkages with Portugal. The Governor said that Punjab has achieved a major breakthrough in the solar energy  sector and Punjab is emerging as a progressive and vibrant investment destination due to various facilities extended to the cross country investors.
        Sh. Badnore said that India’s economic capability is growing at a faster pace. It has enormous dynamism and potential. He said that there was a major scope to further expand economic & business cooperation in wide range of fields like Information Technology, marketing of agriculture produce, sharing of educational tools & technologies, which can be of immense mutual benefit of people on both sides.
