On the Spot Interschool Painting Competition

Chandigarh :28 April : ALPHA NEWS INDIA :—Mr. Atul Nanda, Advocate General, Chief Guest while speaking on the occasion of Inter School Painting Competition’ to mark Water Resource. Water Conservation Day wherein he asked the students to conserve water, since it is the need of the day. Acute water shortage is likely to happen if one does not save the same and said that the students are the future and generations are to be sensitized regarding conservation of water. He said that Rain harvesting is the need of the day. The said day is celebrated every year on April 30th, to create awareness about the significance of conserving water and to make judicious use of it while doing routine activities. Two hundred and thirty Students from 23 Schools in the Tricity participated in this competition. There were two categories: Category I for Classes VI and VIII with the topic ‘Sources of Water’ and Category II for Classes IX to X and the topic was ‘Water Conservation-Preserve Precious Drop’. Mr. Satish Kaushik, the renowned artist and sculptor, judged the paintings and Chief Guest Mr. Atul Nanda, Advocate General, Punjab have away the prizes:
Category I:
·        Runner-up – Kiran, Mount Carmel School, Chandigarh
·        Second Runner-up – Jaya, DAV Model School, Sector 15-A, Chandigarh
Category II:     

·        Winner – Siya Monga, Chitkara International School, Chandigarh
·        Runner-up – Alo Rino, The New Public School, Sector 18-B, Chandigarh
·        Second Runner-up – Yashika Chugh, Manav Mangal Smart School, Mohali
Prize distribution for the Big Aunty Maths Quest (2017-18) – An Inter School Maths Quest held in the month of December 2017 where two hundred eight students from 18 schools had participated, and the following were given cash prizes;
·        Winner, Dhavnit Beniwal, Bhavan Vidhalaya, Sector 15, Panchkula –  5,000/-.
·        Runner-up Vilakshan Gupta, Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 27, Chandigarh –  3,000/-
·        Second Runner-up Sarthak Kohli, Ajit Karam Singh International School, Chandigarh –  2,000/-.

·        Consolation – Aryan Dhaka of Bhawan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh  1,000/-
