Chandigarh:09 June:ALPHA NEWS INDIA DESK :—-The new Highway which will replace the current narrow NH 85, will reduce the distance to middle Tamil Nadu from Kochi by atleast 65-70 kilometres. The 45 metre wide highway is coming as part of the Kochi – Tuticorin Economic Corridor ❤️
Now, the National Highways Authority of India – NHAI will begin the stone laying process along the alignment, which will pass south of the current NH 85 throughout its length upto Theni. The authorities are planning to complete all the pre – construction activities within 6 months.
According to reports, the new highway which can very well be the most scenic highway in South India, will begin from the upcoming new Kochi Bypass (NH 544 between Angamaly and Kundanoor) near Mattakuzhy and proceed through the middle parts of the picturesque Idukki district. The highway can thus cataupult the state’s industrial as well as tourism sectors.
