At Monthly Cycling Activity Behind Sukhna Lake
Chandigarh : March 24 : ALPHA NEWS INDIA :— Today, Department of Forests & Wildlife, Chandigarh Administration and Yuvsatta-an NGO organized bicycling excursion at Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary area behind Sukhna Lake for over 50 girls of Carmel Convent School, Government Model Sr. Sec. School, Sector 18C and Kitabghar-the children’s centre of Yuvsatta for marginalized girls.
The programme started by a brief introduction about rich flora and fauna of this region by environmentalist Kulbhushan Kanwar who introduced participants especially to the rich variety of butterflies and birds. Later with help of staff of Forests & Wildlife Department participating youngsters also learned about and saw migratory birds with binoculars and bird watching spotting scopes.
The main attraction of the day was cycling on the 7 kms. trek in Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary behind Sukhna Lake, where one can savour the fresh air and enjoy the green forest in its full glory.
Sharing his views Santosh Kumar, Chief Conservator of Forests said that their Department make regular efforts and organize programmes bringing more and more people closer to the nature, so that they understand and work more for conservation of environment by practicing the 3 R’s of reduce, reuse and recycle in their daily lives.
In the end Sister Rehana of Carmel Convent School shared that after final exams, today’s cycling excursion and bird watching proved to be a good breather. Pramod Sharma, Coordinator of Yuvsatta addedthat they keep on organizing such bicycling events regularly as riding bicycles boosts brainpower, relationships, health and happiness.
