their arrest eight cases of vehicle theft have been worked out.
On 05.02.2017, on a
tip of, a team of Anti Auto Theft Cell of Crime Branch headed by Inspector
Gurmukh Singh under the close supervision of Sh. Pawan Kumar, DSP/Crime laid a
naka near Bus Stop, DMC-Dhanas Road Chandigarh. During checking, the team
apprehended above said accused persons alongwith a stolen two wheeler bearing
registration No. CH-01-AE-0246, make-Bajaj Pulsar while they were coming from
the side of Village-Dhanas, Chandigarh. On further checking the registration
certificate recovered from them, the said two wheeler vehicle found to be
stolen vide FIR No. 36 dated 04.02.2017 u/s 379, 411 IPC, PS-34, Chandigarh. Both
the accused were arrested in the said case.

During interrogation,
they disclosed that they have stolen number of vehicles (two wheelers and
cycles) from the different part of Chandigarh. On 06.02.2017, upon their
disclosure statement, both were produced before the Hon’ble District Court and
obtained 03 days police custody remand for further investigation.

During the course of
further investigation, 09 stolen two wheeler vehicles and 10 cycles were
recovered at their instance which led to solving of 08 cases of auto theft
registered with different police stations of the city, Chandigarh. The detail

Modus Operandi
Both the accused are heavy
drug addicts. Accused Naresh Kumar @ Kancha is found previously involved in 09 cases
and Manoj Kumar @ Chujja in 07 cases of robbery, burglary, snatching,
house/vehicles theft, respectively. Accused Naresh Kumar @ Kancha working as
helper in Apni Mandi with his uncle and accused Manoj Kumar @ Chujja is working
as salesman. They used to steal two wheelers and by-cycles from the different
part of city and parked the stolen motorcycles in the parking lots, after
rejoicing riding. They sold the stolen by-cycles and sometimes parts of the
stolen two wheelers to the unknown innocent people and street scrap dealers at
very cheaper rates to fulfil their daily needs.
