President inaugurates New Sectt. Bldg., S.G.P. and Lays Foundation Stone of various Development Projects

  • Chandigarh:—–09th October:— -ALPHA NEWS INDIA DESK:———Hon’ble President of India inaugurates New Secretariat Building, Smart Grid Project and Lays Foundation Stone of various Development Projects.

Hon’ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the new Chandigarh Secretariat building today in Sector 9, Chandigarh in the presence of Shri Banwarilal Purohit, Governor Punjab & Administrator, Chandigarh, Smt Kirron Kher, Member Parliament, Smt. Sarabjit Kaur, Mayor, Shri Dharam Pal, Adviser to the Administrator.

The new secretariat is a green building that has plot area of 2.36 acres with total covered area of. 214816 sq ft. The said building has G+6 floors having provision for 78 cars and 76 two wheelers and is expected achieve minimum “Five Star Griha Rating” standards.

Hon’ble President congratulated the Chandigarh Administration on the inauguration of the green, intelligent and smart building.

The new Secretariat will house all the administrative departments of Chandigarh Administration under one roof to deliver better services to the general public.

The Smart Grid Project was also inaugurated today that has been implemented in Sub-Division No.5 of Chandigarh Electricity Department covering geographical area of Sector 29, 31, Industrial Area Phase-I & II Ram Darbar, Sector 47, Sector 48 & other areas under jurisdiction of Sub-Division No.5. Under this project, 24,213 smart meters have been installed. Now the energy consumption is being recorded in real time with the help of latest IT equipments installed under the project leading to enormous saving in manpower cost apart from manual reading errors that caused trouble to the consumers.

The President also laid the foundation stone of Effluent treatment plant, GMCH 32 that would treat the waste water of about 1.5 Million Litter per Day (MLD) capacity generating from Hospital. She also inaugurated the Sewerage treatment plant, Kishangarh that is built to to fill Sukhna Lake with treated water having Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) <3mg/ltr. In addition, this treated water shall also be used for the irrigational purpose in the surrounding areas like Sukhna Lake, Golf Range and IT Park area.

Chandigarh Administration is maximising its efforts to increase solar energy share and identifying every new opportunity to minimise dependence on Non-Renewable Energy sources. Accordingly, Chandigarh Administration has set an ambitious target of 75 Megawatt power (MWP) to be achieved by 15th August, 2023.
To achieve this vision, Hon’ble President laid the foundation stone of 2 Mwp floating SPV Power Plant, Water Works Sector-39.This Project will help in generating clean and green power by re-utilisation of Waste Land.
