Chandigarh : 13th May : ALPHA NEWS INDIA ;—–To expedite disposal of old cases, executions, cases of heinous crime against women and children, cases of accused in custody and juveniles, senior citizens and other categories, the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh has devised the methodology of preparing Annual Action Plans. Recently the Apex Court appreciated the efforts of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh and directed other High Courts to emulate the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh.
A meeting in this regard with District and Sessions Judges, District Judges, Family Courts and Presiding Officers of the Labour Courts in the States of Punjab and Haryana and Union Territory, Chandigarh was held today in Chandigarh Judicial Academy under the Chairmanship of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ajay Kumar Mittal, Acting Chief Justice, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh to sensitize the Judicial Officers for taking effective steps to ensure expeditious disposal of old cases particularly executions.
Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ajay Kumar Mittal, Acting Chief Justice impressed upon the Judicial Officers to work tirelessly 24×7 with dedication, honesty and sincerity and to live upto the expectations of the society at large.
Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rajesh Bindal, Chairman, State Court Management Systems Committee, while highlighting the salient features of Action Plan 2018-19 asked the District and Sessions Judges to give personal attention and effectively the disposal of old cases and executions.

Mann, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Augustine George Masih, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia, Hon’ble Mrs. Justice Rekha Mittal, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Surinder Gupta, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Amit Rawal, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Anupinder Singh Grewal, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ramendra Jain, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Raj Shekhar Attri, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Gurvinder Singh Gill, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Arvind Singh Sangwan, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Anil Kshetarpal, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Avneesh Jhingan, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Mahabir Singh Sindhu and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sudhir Mittal also actively participated in the discussion during InteractiveSessions.
The District and Sessions Judges pointed out that the shortage of Public Prosecutors and delay inreceipt of reports from the Forensic Science Laborites are the main impediments in expeditious disposal of Criminal Trials.
In the second session, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rajesh Bindal being Chairman of Hon’ble Computer Committee interacted with the Officers regarding Ongoing Projects of Computerization in theDistrict and Subordinate Courts in the States of Punjab and Haryana and Union Territory, Chandigarh and impressed upon them to make optimum use of information and communication technology in providing services to the litigants.
Taking further the initiative of Government of India to avoid use of plastic water bottles in official meetings, seminars, conferences, workshop etc., the High Court has also instructed to dispense with use of plastic water bottles. These instructions were strictly followed during the entire meeting. The participants were also impressed upon to propagate and strengthen Swach Bharat Mission by avoiding the use of plastic water bottles.
