61st Annual Prize Distribution Function of Post-Graduate Govt. College for Girls

Chandigarh : 9th April : RK vikrama/MONICA sharma/ karan sharma ;— The 61st Annual Prize Distribution Function of Post-Graduate Govt. College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh was held today. Hon’ble Ms. Justice Ritu Bahri, Punjab and Haryana High Court graced the occasion as Chief Guest of the function. Amidst applause by the audience, more than 600 meritorious students were honoured with trophies and prizes for their outstanding and distinctive performance in the field of academics and co-curricular activities. The Chief-guest and Principal of the college lighted the ceremonial lamp which was followed by invocation of Goddess Saraswati by the students.
Welcoming the Chief Guest Prof. Anita Kaushal, Principal of the college, proudly highlighted that Hon’ble Justice Ms. Bahri is an Alumna of the college. She motivated the students to emulate her as their Role Model so that they too can grace their Alma Mater as Chief Guest in future. The Principal presented the College Annual Report and highlighted the glorious achievements of the students in the fields of academics, extra-curricular activities and sports at the university, inter-university, state, national and international levels. She said that the college has emerged as one of the pioneer institution in the region and has been reaccredited with ‘A’ Grade by NAAC for its outstanding overall achievements. She also highlighted the academic achievements of the faculty at National and International level.
Chief Guest gave away the prizes to the students who excelled in academics, sports and extra-curricular activities. Congratulating the winners, Justice Ms. Bahri lauded the multidimensional achievements of the institution which speaks volume of the commitment, dedication and sincerity of the Principal, faculty and students. Becoming nostalgic and recalling her college days, she observed a sea change in the college courses and infrastructure. The achievers have made their parents and their institution proud. She stressed that the achievers should share and give back to the society. It can be sharing of toys, sharing of blood or simply sharing of happiness and compassion. In present times, it is important to excel irrespective of the stream you pursue. She motivated them to be confident, dream the best, work hard and success will automatically follow.

More than 600prizes were awarded to the students in various categories.
·       306prizes were awarded for academic excellencein arts, science and commerce streams at UG & PG levels.
·       225 prizes were given for excellence in extra-curricular activities like public speaking, dance, vocal music, instrumental music, drawing and painting, dramatics etc. Editors of College Magazine and Members of Students Council were also honoured.
·       26students were awarded the College Colour in sports and 12 in extra-curricular activities.
·       9students were awarded the Roll of Honourin sports for their achievements at the various inter-university, state and national level championships.
·       40 students were awarded the Roll of Honour for extra-curricular activities.
·       Mahimawas adjudged as the Best NCC Cadet Air Wing.
·       SUO Vanishawas adjudged as the Best NCC Cadet Army Wing.
·       Jagritiof B.Com.-III was awarded as the Best Blood Donor.
·       Cheshtawas awarded as the Best volunteer of NSSandAditiVerma as the Best NSS camp organiser.
·       Anjali, Deepti, Taniya Sharma and Anmol were awardedS.P. Dutta Award for Honesty.
·       Kajalof B.A.-I was adjudgedAll Round Best Player of theyear.
·       Balwinder Kaurof B.A-III was adjudgedBest Athlete of the year.
·       GoldyNegi, of B.A-III, President;Ridhi Sharma of B.A.-III, Vice-President; andStuti Sharma of B.A-III, General Secretary of College Students’ Council were also felicitated.
·       Suman Devi was awarded theNirmalVasudeva Scholarshipof Rs. 6000/-.
·       Monawas awarded M.C. Bhatia Awardof Rs.2500/- for being the Best student in Physics.
·       Amritpreet Kaur Kahlonwas awarded Mrs. SharanMakkar Memorial Award of Rs.1100/- and a trophy for being the outstanding student in Punjabi literature.
·       SonikaKapila and Preeti were awarded Gopal Das Garg Memorial Scholarship for their performance in B.A.-III, Music Instrumental (Honours).
·       Saranjeet Kaurwas awarded Dr. Harjinder Singh Scholarship of Rs. 1500/-.
·       Baljinder Kaurwas awarded Mrs.PushpaVerma Scholarship of Rs.5000/- and a medal for standing 1st in M.A-I in P.U. and for her performance in Youth Festivals.
·       Prabhsimrangot Mrs.PushpaVerma Scholarship of Rs.3175/- and a medalfor her performance in Academics and Youth Festivals.
·       KephoolKhatoonwas awarded Sh. Dharam Rattan Scholarship of Rs. 3000/- given to needy students.
·       Jasleen Kaurwas awardedSardarniDevinder Kaur Scholarship.
·       Fatimawas awardedGursharanSingh Scholarship for excelling in Punjabi language and literature.
·       Reetika of B.Com.-IIIwas declared the All Round Best Student of the college at the Under-graduate level.
·       Baljinder Kaur of M.A.-II Music (Instrumental) was declared the All Round Best Student of the college at the Post-graduate level.
